Music Education Nation
Reviews and uses for each Communties I joined:
Music Education Nation: This group has the most people of all the music education communities, It has a vast base of people and several different ideas on how to go about teaching and new ideas to use in our classrooms. The first post I saw was about a classroom in China and how instruments are different over there. Truly a interesting read as some of the drums I use here at Kansas state are from China along with several cymbals. There is several videos on how to practice and how to motivate kids to learn. A discussion post was brought a great resource on building the Circle of fifths in just two minutes which is so,thing that I find interesting.

Technology in music education
Technology in music education: One aspect of teaching music education I couldn't work out comfortably was how to use all of the technology of today's world into music education, I had an idea that music education is just learning ones instrument and no technology was needed. After finding and joining Technology in music education, I found all kid shows of ideas on how to incorporate technology, for instance one post talked about using kids iPads to create music on GarageBand or use their phones and metronomes for rhythmic and timing practice and tuners for pitch melodic practice. Using chord builder can also help the students ears, along with a tuner helping students ears! |
High School Marching Band
High-School Marching Band: This community has a very open friendly feeling to to it. I posted a question on how everyone goes about getting their high school class ready to play and focused compared to a middle school class. I had a few people reply within minutes which was very amazing to see. If any of the communities was truly for enjoyment for me it was this community as they all are teaching high school which is something I hope for and am training for. One idea that I love from this group is that they all post progress videos of their high school marching bands, this is beneficial to see where I can scaffold information and learn how to access my knowledge onto my students! |
